We are proud to officially announce our training partnership with the FMA Action Club and Coach Jason Croom. He will be providing all of our training for film in on-camera Filipino blade, stick, and empty-hand (Filipino Boxing) work. In addition to that he will be training Jeet Kune Do kickboxing. Everything he teaches is in tune with what you've already learned from me when it comes to your on-camera hits/reactions
Born in Brooklyn, NY, Croom started his martial arts journey in 2005 studying Ip Man lineage of Wing Chun. Wanting to explore other empty hand methods outside of trapping range he began studying Boxing. To his surprise Bruce Lee had already created a system utilizing Wing Chun, Boxing, Weapons and much more. Videos of Guro Dan Inosanto and Sifu Paul Vunak quickly drew his attention to Jeet Kune Do/Jun Fan and Filipino Martial Arts (FMA).
A friend later asked him to take a FMA introductory class that blew his mind. The instructor of the class (Guro Arnold Filmeno) is a full instructor under Paul Vunak and holds a Guro title under Dan Inosanto’s son in law Guro Ron Balicki. From that point forward Jason completely immersed himself in FMA and Silat training. He’s been blessed to train with as well as be mentored by High level Guro’s, Masters, Grandmasters and Tuhon’s.
Currently, he holds a Module 1 Instructorship under Master Virgil Cavada and Guro Jerome Teague for Applied Eskrima Global Balintwak and is the official representative for the state of Georgia. He has also mentored by phenomenal martial artist, athlete and action actor Guru Marrese Crump and is the Crump Martial Arts Representative for the state of Georgia. His mission is to Propagate FMA through Television and Film inspiring millions to study this beautiful, but deadly art.
Coach Croom is the personal mentor to ATFF's Founder, Matt Clanton, for Filipino Martial Arts, Boxing, and Jeet Kune Do. Clanton personally chose him for this position after searching for over a year for an FMA Specialist that was the correct fit for ATFF. This is the training you want to have for film outside of your firearms/tactics training. Together, they are developing an Edged Weapon Awareness for Law Enforcement program to introduce as a standard for police officers for surviving on the street.
